Dermal Fillers
Hyaluronic acid dermal fillers treatments are used by our highly trained Nurse Injectors to restore and enhance features, sculpt facial contours, smooth deep wrinkles and folds, restore lost facial volume, and create a lifted yet natural appearance. Dermal Fillers are one of the most popular and versatile products used to treat a variety aging and skin rejuvenating concerns.
Largely used as an anti-aging injectable treatment, dermal fillers help to restore lost volume to the face, neck, chest, hands, and body, as well as regenerate the production of collagen and elastin in the skin where these have begun to deplete due to normal ageing processes.
Dermal fillers are commonly used to treat: lines & wrinkles, marionette lines, lips, nasolabial folds, jowls, and sagging skin. Dermal fillers can also be used to restructure facial features such as the nose, cheeks, chin, jawline, and sunken temples.
At The Lip Loft, we are proud to use a variety of fillers including products from Galderma, Merz, and Prolennium.

If you are experiencing the first or advanced signs of aging, if you are feeling that your face is not as youthful as it once was, if you’re seeing areas of loss of volume such as in the temples, lower cheeks, or around the eyes, if your lips have thinned and are showing light or deeper wrinkles around the edges, or if you have a misshapen nose or a weak jawline, the chances are that dermal filler injections could offer a significant improvement.

Our Aesthetic Nurse specialists will hold a thorough consultation exploring your concerns and establish a treatment plan that is best suited to you.
Numbing cream is applied to certain areas prior to treatment to help minimize discomfort. The treatment itself may cause minimal to no discomfort.
Some soreness may be experienced at the injection site after treatment. The local anesthetic in the dermal filler itself will help manage the pain after the treatment.
-
On average dermal fillers last around 6-18 months however, each individual is different and some people’s bodies break down filler at a quicker or slower rate than others.
Recent studies suggest that trace amounts of filler may last for years after treatment.
Common Questions
-
Dermal Fillers are applied through a series of small injections. Much like a gentle pinprick, most people find them perfectly comfortable. Some areas of the face are more sensitive than others (like the lips which contain many nerve endings), and therefore at the Lip Loft, we will also use a topical numbing cream for some areas and offer a Comfort Menu mitigate any anxiety or discomfort.
-
After your treatment you can go back to work and continue most of your usual daily activities.
For the first 48 hours it is important to refrain from exercise, alcohol, and excessive heat. Avoid direct pressure to treated areas. Ice may be applied intermittently to help with any discomfort, and swelling. Avoid makeup for 12 hours.
To ensure optimal outcomes, t is important that you follow the correct aftercare protocols set out to you by your Lip Loft specialist.
After fillers, you may experience some slight swelling, bruising, and tenderness in the treatment area. After a few days, you should be able to see the optimum results and any bruising and swelling should have diminished.

Risks of FDA-approved fillers
As with any medical procedure, there are risks involved with the use of dermal fillers. Most side effects reported in clinical trials and post-market surveillance occur shortly after injection and go away within a few weeks. In some cases, side effects may emerge weeks, months, or years later.
Common risks include:
Bruising
Redness
Swelling
Pain
Tenderness
Itching
Rash
Difficulty in performing activities (only observed when injected into the back of the hand)
The most serious risk associated with dermal fillers is accidental injection into a blood vessel. Filler that enters a blood vessel can cause skin necrosis (death of tissue), stroke, or blindness. While the chances of this happening are low, if it does happen, the resulting complications can be serious and may be permanent. -
If you want to have fillers removed or reduced because of side effects, you may need additional procedures to reduce the filler or surgery to remove it. These procedures carry their own risks. Be aware that it may be difficult or impossible to remove some filler materials.
